The 1995 film Tales from the Hood is arguably a classic anthology horror film with some great sociological themes, and in the wake of a new slew of movies taking on political and ethical undertones, it makes sense that someone might try to reboot this series for a new generation. Enter Tales from the Hood 2, the overdue sequel that brings together executive producer Spike Lee with writers/directors Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott. Gathering the original crew together again seems to promise some good things for this sequel, and checking out the newly-released trailer, there are definitely some throwbacks to the original here to whet viewers’ appetites. Can Tales from the Hood 2 recreate the resonance of the first film? You’ll be able to find out October 2 when the film releases on Blu-ray and DVD.
