The new SUSPIRIA teaser trailer actually looks fucking good

Horror News

A lot of talk and hype has come out about Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake, from gore-drenched teaser promos to CinemaCon viewers nearly losing their lunch during an as-yet-unreleased scene. All of this seemed like just a publicity stunt, and with the film also reportedly nearly three hours long, it was hard to get hopes up that this new vision of Dario Argento’s classic could be anything worthwhile. However, the new teaser trailer released – featuring a number of languid and surprisingly eerie shots along with Thom Yorke’s quietly disturbing soundrack – has seriously convinced me otherwise.

It looks like Guadagnino has decided to eliminate the lurid red, green, and blue lighting of the original to replace it with cinematography that highlights symmetry and the foreboding elements of the setting; however, despite the lack of lighting effects, the color red still seems to play an integral part throughout. Also of note are a few moments of actual cult-like worship that are missing from Argento’s film. And a more sinister element here that is only hinted in the original is the odd relationship between Dakota Johnson’s character Susie Bannion and Tilda Swinton’s Madame Blanc.

The film releases November 2, and what was once a mild curiosity to me has now become anticipation. Are you excited for the new Suspiria remake?
