The Noose: Archie Horror back with Afterlife with Archie #9 and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #5 later this year

The press release from Archie Comics offers up an apology from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, without excuses as to the delay of the new issues of Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. “We know how much these books mean to you—so thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin,” Aguirre-Sacasa says. I don’t think there’s any doubt that readers are sticking around for the new issues: they’re ravenous for them, and I think that I would be okay waiting around until next year if it meant knowing that at some point, I’d get a new issue of both.

Well, Archie Comics is promising the return of the two horror comics that have done wonders for the genre. Both Afterlife with Archie #9 and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #5 will be back, although fans will have to wait a couple more months.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #5 will release on May 18; the press release states:

Still reeling from the fallout of her botched baptism and the fate of her boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle, Sabrina faces her toughest challenge yet in the form of the Witches Council. Issue #5 hits comic shops on May 18th.

Afterlife with Archie #9 will follow on June 1. The plot details include:

The spotlight turns to Reggie, the instigator behind the zombie apocalypse that now threatens the entire planet, in AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE #9. Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Francesco Francavilla take us back to the fateful night that started everything and ask the question: is redemption possible for Reggie Mantle?

Archie Comics has released artwork and variant covers for both.
