The mighty Yul Brynner stars in this sunswept action-thriller from producer/director Ronald Neame (The Poseidon Adventure). In a strife-torn Arab state, fanatical loyalists of a nationalist leader (Brynner, The Magnificent Seven) attack the police van transporting him to prison and aid his escape into the deadly Arabian Desert. With him are fellow death-row prisoners Huston (Jack Warden, 12 Angry Men), a swashbuckling American who had embezzled a fortune from the Zahrain Oil Company, and Tahar (Anthony Caruso, The Asphalt Jungle), a sadistic maniac. Sal Mineo (Rebel Without a Cause) plays a young rebel who helps the fugitives flee the pursuing police in a stolen ambulance. This vintage adventure yarn features a special cameo by James Mason (North by Northwest) and gorgeous widescreen cinematography by Ellsworth Fredericks (Invasion of the Body Snatchers).
